Please help guys. Just built my new system. I have Q6600, abit IP35, Corsair HX520W, GeIL 2gb 6400, radeon hd 3850, WD 500gb HD. When i press the power on my systm it starts for literally a second and then goes off again. This repeats itself every 4/5 seconds until i turn the power off at the back?

I have chcked the power cords and as far as i can tell everthing is fully connected

any ideas guys? any help is much appreciated. :)

The motherboard should have a 4/8pin connector near the CPU socket, and a 24 pin connector. Make sure these are connected. Also - the graphics card must also have an extra power plug in the side.
Reset the CMOS too while you are in there.

do you have a 2nd PSU u could try?
even though the HX520 is a very good PSU, it can suffer from faults too. use a different PSU to rule this out.
are all the buttons connected properly?

FWIW I am running a spare PSU with my newly aquired IP35 Pro because my Antec 550 W will not power this board for some reason !! .. there is a bios code (can't remember what though) when I switch the PSU on and the board powers off when I hit the system power on button!!! Then, sometimes if I switch the PSU off the system starts to boot for a couple of seconds (with capicatance power that the PSU has I presume) ... I will have to order a new quality one that works!!

I don't know if there is a general issue but the Antec does fine with the rig in my sig ....

Same board and PSU as me and same weird problem. CMOS switch is near your graphics card near one of the PCI slots.

Its a known issue with the corsair power supplies and the abit IP35 boards. Not sure if theres a cure or not.

Worried me enough not to get an IP35 and go with the asus instead

Cheers guys, just managed to get it started but it then stopped whilst in the BIOS. Think i m just going to have to swap my psu, any suggestions for one with a similar price

Thanks

Enermax liberty 500w is similar price, but if you have a new motherboard it may be simpler to RMA the board and get a different one

Ok in that case what would be a good mobo to go for?

Also, never had to return anything to OC before, whats th process, is it painles? :)

WAIT, dont rma yet without trying this as your problem is different to mine. Use 1 stick of your ram so your PC boots up and go into the bios and change the DRAM voltage to 2.1 as thats what the GIEL ram uses. Default voltage on our board is 1.7 for the ram which is faaaaar too low.

Hi guys, just to let you know for future reference it was a faulty motherboard that was shorting out. I tried a new PSU and the same problem occurred, RMA'd the ip35 and got an Asus p5k instead and have had no problems with the corsair hx520w.

Thanks for all your help :)

Glad that it's all working for you. The process of elimination is a stressful procedure and even more so when it's a new rig :(.

Hope you're enjoying the new beast? :D.
