it's not showing up in the mixer or ventrilo...

It's detected correctly that i've plugged a mic into the socket, but why won't it let me use it? XP pro/
 
Theres one big problem with this motherboard. even if the mic where showing up and working its sound out put is very low. people had problems hearing me in yahoo and msn. this best thing to do with this problem is go and buy a USB mic.
 
not had a problem myself with the ip35 pro and vista or xp ... have you got disable front audio ports unchecked in the realtek control panel?
 
Nope, I don't think it was unchecked. Gone back to my "trusty, but old" Audigy2 for now :)
