Hi,
a while ago I purchased the above Mobo, which came with the sarcastically 'amazing' Uguru software. I tend to use my machine as part of a home music studio as well as a bit of gaming, so want to get the fans as quiet as possible, whilst ensuring I won't overheat when playing a big game.

It seemed that by using the Uguru util initially, I managed to get my machine running on 'quiet' mode, which has worked well, and the settings seem to have remained even though I had uninstalled the util.

Since losing my OCUK profile recently though, the CPU fan seems to want to operate on 100%rpm all the time, clearly giving me a lot of extra noise. I have since manually overclocked the system again (with the help of the OCUK guys), and have changed the upper limit of CPU fan voltage control in the Ubit BIOS screen, to 70% (which has obviously reduced the noise of the fan)...but, is this the proper/safest way to get the fan to run more quietly?

I am very inexperienced with overclocking in general, and would appreciate if anyone with more knowledge could tell me if this is OK or not...

Thanks in advance, and have a very Happy Christ/Horus/Bhudda-Mas! ;)

Setting the fan speed to 70% in the bios is perfectly safe and the preferred option by many people. Atleast with it in the bios you will not have any problems with software messing with your settings. If for some reason the bios get reset then you will have to save it again.
