Howdy.

I'm having some issues trying to update my BIOS to 16 (I believe it's 14 at the moment). The flashing process starts and all seems to go according to plan... until after about 1.5 minutes, when I get a checksum error, and it displays the following:

"!! You can't update this image file !!"
"Check to see if FDD & HDD error occured"
"Please download again your source file"

I've tried downloading it 3 times, formatting the floppy on each occassion. I put the 5 files on the floppy, as per Abit's instructions, but I keep getting the error message.

I feel like such a nooblet, can anyone help me please?

Thanks in advance

Abit IP35 Pro
Corsair HX620
Reaper X PC2-8000 (although using cheap ram to boot to BIOS at the mo)
Radeon X1950XTX
E8400 Wolfdale

Thanks for the responses :)

I've checked what version it is, the sticker on the board says v1.1 which I believe I'm right in saying it equates to BIOS 14. But I thought you could flash the BIOS with the same version, as it's possible some Abit's can suffer BIOS corruption (Read that on this forum, dunno though).

As mentioned in my OP, I have flashed as per Abit's instructions and also as per the other guide in the official IP35 Pro thread on this forum (very slight variation in procedure).

I don't have a usb drive, and am completely skint until payday in 11days 4hrs and 39mins time! If all else fails I'll give that a go but I'd like to sort it sooner.

This is really doing my head in. Any other suggestions? Having a nightmare sorting this build out :(

Thanks for the suggestions though :)

Well I tried the beta 17b04 and I'm still getting the same checksum nonsence. I definately have 14 on there at the moment. So why won't it take 16 or beta 17b04? Vainly borrowed another FDD and tried with that... same error.

Could it be the board? Can't get passed the C1 error with the Reapers either (after setting Vram to 2.1v and TRFC to 54. Tried with 5-5-5-18 in the timings too (original challenges first mentioned halfway through this thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17882056)), hence my desperation to flash. And besides, I need at least 16 for my 45nm.

I'm lost... I would be eternally grateful for some thoughts on this please?:(

are you sure that 14 is still on?
you did clear CMOS after the flash?
you could try by USB memory stick or as a last resort FlashMenu.

Your 45nm will run on 14, just that the reported temps will probably be way out.

Read all that thoroughly do it step by step and I am sure you will figure it out.
Have you revealed hidden files and folders and removed Config.sys or Autoexec.bat?
That's why you should use Drdos bootdisk and add the bios files and awdflash after if you are unsure of the above.
I take it you have tried several diskettes ? when i had to save my board from a bad flash i remember putting the files on to a disk and all seemed fine yet it wouldn't flash but tried some others and it did.

Yay!!! It worked. Successfully flashed to 16 after deleting the necessary hidden files from the floppy diskette :)

Unfortunately I thought the flash would cure the C1 error with my 2x2Gb Reaper X PC2-8000. Alas I am still getting the same C1 error and unable to POST with this ram.

I don't suppose we have any thoughts on this? I upped the vram to 2.1v, set timings to 5-5-5-18 and TRFC set to 54.

Should I RMA this ram due to incompatibility? Or am I again being a noob again, and missed something simple?

Many thanks for everyone's help with my noobness :D

Well, a guy on the OCZ forum has suggested I flash back to 14 as it's "the best one" then remove battery to clear CMOS, then try the Reapers again. I have doubts but I'll give it a go anyway.

Any comments on my Reaper issue please gurus?

Hmmm, well I've tried some more settings, suggested from the abit forums. Still on BIOS 16...

Tried 1x2Gb (in all slots) with TRFC @ 42, 5-5-5-18 timings, and the rest of the settings standard = C1

Tried 2x2Gb in the two DIMM slot options with TRFC @ 54v, 5-5-5-18 and MCH @ 1.33 and 1.37v = C1.

I'm verging on an RMA of the ram
