Hi,

I've been having some problems lately with my current setup:
Abit ip35 pro,
2GB Crucial Ballistix c4 6400
500gb 32mb
320gb 16mb
XP home 32bit
corsair hx620w

Right. I was in windows, installing a game, and then computer shuts off. without any interruptions. Looked into power supply, everything fine. checked fuses in house appliances etc. everything working fine. turned on again, stays on forabout 3 seconds. look at the post led thing, see c1, c2, 86 9 etc.
look up in manual, not nice.

Looked in the forums, and on internet, I see many problems with it to do with the corsair PSU and ip35 pro. I've read most of the threads on a similar problem, tried some suggestions - didn't work. removed ram, checked all cables connected properly. nothing. i can get to the bios and change settings, but no avail. after save + reboot, the computer just shuts down immediately.

I don't know what to do, buy another PSU - corsair or another?
what should I do?

thanks,
temo.

Hi Tem07,

I read very similar things on the abit forums, is your GTX PCI-E 2.0?

a lot of folks with Abit IP35 Pro & a high end GFX card had issues if the PSU couldnt supply enough power (check their forums for detailed info).

I have the Abit IP35 Pro waiting to go into my new build and currently searching for a decent PSU.

So far the PC Power & Cooling PSU's have a single 12v rail that will be more than enough for the GFX card, also the new Tagan BZ range of PSU's that OCUK have have the option of combining all 12v rails into 1 large 12v rail, so thats at the top of my list so far.

Hope this helps?

Hi D.M,

Thanks for your reply.
It's PCI E 1.
Only the X38 boards onwards have the PCI E 2.0

Mhhmm, I think it has enough power since I've been using it for a long time :/
I just don't know what to do; if this is a problem that can be fixed; or a that something needs to be replaced?

Thanks,
temo.

Hi Temo,

I know the X38 boards have PCI-E 2.0 but the new GFX cards are PCI-E 2.0 also & they are supposedly backward compatible to 1.0/1.1 mobos, its just some are having issues with the IP35 pro board and PCI-E 2.0 GFX cards.

Sorry, I didnt realise that you've been using it for awhile :)

Hope you get it sorted,

Peace :)

D.M,

Thanks for your reply again.
Yeah, hopefully will get it sorted soon. I am thinking it's something to do with my HX620. Probably will try and sort it out the forthcoming weekend.

Cheers,
temo.

From what Ive seen of this problem, if it is the PSU Corsair can't replicate it.
one thread on corsair forum.
It also seems more at boot from what I have read.

Unless you have another PSU to test it with, could be a nightmare to solve :(

Thanks.
Hmm.. I will probably try the method advised on the other site, and before that hook up another PSU. 500w
Re mounting CPU
Clearing CMOS
Removing battery
removing ram etc.

Then if no avail after, will probably send board + PSU back to OcUK for testing.

Cheers,
temo.

Hi.
I today re seated the heatsink [AF7 Pro]. Seems that was causing the problems, and also other users reported that as a fix.
