So my ditsy friend had dropped her Iphone 4S onto her till. Kluts i know. :P

She want's to know how much it would cost her to get the screen repaired (Not from apple), the digitizer seems fine, as all thouch functions are in working order.

Also, the back feels a bit flimsy and somewhat loose now as well.

Anyone in the SE London area who knows any decent place to get this done?
Picture Below.

Tell her to try her luck taking it to an Apple Store, they are well known for doing a one-off replacement even if it is user inflicted damage.

I believe the standard apple replacement cost for an iPhone 4S is £135 - this is what my sister paid when she dropped her 4S on the pavement and cracked both the back and front glass (phone itself still worked fine).

If you went outside of apple then I believe you would be looking at a similar cost to repair it (as it sounds like it is both the front and back glass needing replacing) but this technically invalidates the warranty from apple (if they can tell).

As Diggsy says, it is worth going into the apple store and see what they say - sometimes they will give you a free one-off replacement (this happened to me with my old 3G).

I just got back from Apple yesterday for a smashed front screen. Although they did replace iPhone 4 screen for free as a one off before they would absolutely not budge on the 4S one bit. Was £139 for a complete replacement phone. Can certainly ask her to try her luck but be prepared to pay.

Also to note the glass/digitiser/LCD is all as one so would need the complete set - don't be fooled by eBay adverts selling just the separate bits, you will break it trying to separate them. My advice would be to go to Applr and just get replacent handset

That's a good point, with the 4S (probably the 4 too) the glass and digitiser are bonded to the LCD - so you can't just replace the glass/digitizer on it's own - you need to replace the retina LCD as well. Which would greatly increase the cost of any non-apple repair.

Note that different stores and different staff deal with things very differently; it's a bit ridiculous in my opinion.

For example, the Cribbs Causeway store is crap; staff are rude and unwilling to help for the most part. The Cabot Circus store is far better.

All in all though, £135 for a new phone sounds like a reasonable deal to me, as you get warranty with it. No brainer IMO.
