iPad 1st Gen fault?

I have still rocking the 1st Generation iPad 32GB. Had this since September, got it in a Maplins sale. It was bought brand new .

The problem I am having with it is when I launch a drawing app like Sketchbook Pro or Brushes a small 3cm area in the bottom right corner of the iPad (think viewed in portrait mode) is unresponsive to touch. So when I am sketching and go to draw a line in that area the line breaks when drawing over that 3cm area; like it is not recognising input.

Could this be a software issue or am I right in thinking it could be hardware? Anyone had any problems like this, if so what did you do or Apple do to rectify this issue?

Thanks!

It can't be for my hand to rest on as it is just small narrow area where it is unresponsive and when rotating the screen into landscape view the area is still the same.

I have tried it in other apps like Brushes, ZenBrush, Penultimate. All the same. Even tried typing on the on screen keyboard and it seemed to react glitchy when pressing the 'L' key; the return key was being pressed as well.

Try restarting the iPad?

I had a part of my screen being unresponsive, on an iPhone however, and a simple sleep/wake fixed it.

Another phone I know had to have the screen replaced, but it was completely unresponsive, not just "glitchy".

Hope it's not major and just software.

Hey guys thanks for the responses. Took it to the Apple store today. We did a full factory reset and it was still doing it so the guy at the Genius bar said it's a strip in the display that won't recognise touch input.

So thankfully still being in a years warranty they agreed to just straight up replace it like for like :) Just getting iOS 5 set up on the 32GB replacement!
