IPAD 2 and external storage

I'd like to use my ipad for storing movies for my holiday but being only 16gb it's a bit light on storage. I've skimmed the net but everything seems a bit nebulous as to what works and what doesnt with the camera kit. I realise it must be jailbroken but can anyone confirm a working way with IOS 5.1.1. I'd like to connect a USB external disk if possible without the use of expensive wifi hotspot enclosures.

Well for anyone that's Interested you do it with the camera kit, a cheapo one worked for me and iFile from cydia.You must be jb first obviously.

External storage

With the camera adapter place video files on a sd card and name them with an 8 digit number the iPad will then be able to import them . Worked last year but now have a 64g so have not tried it for a while .
