iPad 2 applecare info

Folks,

As there's a few of these in the MM and with my wife's birthday impending + mothers day shortly I'm fairly tempted but how does buying it second hand affect Applecare and is it possible to purchase Applecare for a second hand iPad 2 if it didn't previously have it (and is outside the 12 month warranty).

Just curious as although some people say they'd be willing to help I'd rather be able to do it myself and not have to rely on someone who possible lives in another country

no it has to be inside the original warranty period to get applecare

I'd rather but from apple refurb and have the option to extend the warranty to 2 years later on. The MM prices are unrealistic when you consider a 16bg wifi refurb is £289. Even if you bought one with a couple of months warranty for £200, you still might as well buy a refurb as £200+ the 65 for apple care would give you one years warranty on an already year old battery.

That's what's kind of put me off after finding out that Applecare is most likely not possible on a majority of them.
