Just got one of these bad boys :D

Any idea know why they shipped them with the old style iPhone 3G charger?!

Also is it just me or is it a right mission to plug the USB lead into the iPad?! :o

It's not simply the old style, it's different because iirc the output of the plug is higher, hence not as compact as the latest iPhone charger.

Yep, it'll be fine, your iPhone will only draw the necessary current that it needs from the iPad power supply. I've used my old spare iPad charger to charge my iphone 4 for ages. :)

You can use an iPhone charger with an iPad but it will drain the battery during use as it's using more power than what can be put back in the battery. Idle, with the screen off it will charge, albeit very slowly.

iPad needs a 5V 1.0A charger. iPhone needs 5V 0.5A. That's why the iPad charger is bigger than the iPhone one. This is also why when you plug an iPad into a PC, which only provides 0.5A per the USB 2.0 spec, it doesn't always charge.

It's OK to plug an iPhone into an iPad charger, but I wouldn't do it the other way around (no harm will come, but it might get a bit warm or not charge the iPad properly).

The iPhone 4 charger is rated at 1A output and the iPad 2 charger is rates at 2.1A output.
