iPad 2 / iTunes query

just two quick questions since I'm hovering over the "buy" button for an iPad 2 or an Asus transformer...

Can I use an iPad without iTunes? If I cannot does iTunes now allow me to use media purchased on iTunes on other devices (eg my android phone)?

I'm pretty sure you need iTune to activate iPad. So you can't use iPad without iTune

iTunes music isn't protected but its not in MP3 format either, see the link below. I wouldn't let this put you off an ipad - if your android device doesn't support the apple format just buy your music from somewhere like Amazon.

Cheers for the info guys - assume itunes would have no problem playing mp3's bought from amazon / play ?

Correct, you can add your existing music to itunes

yes you need itunes but its not the problem people make it out to be.

It will happily put ripped music / movies / tv shows on your ipad providing they are in the correct format.

You don't have to have bought anything through itunes to put it on an ipad. Apart from apps of course.But then you'd be silly to think you could put android apps on an ipad
