Hey all,

I've decided I'm going to buy an iPad and it will be the Wifi + 3G version. The dliema is should I go for the 2 or the 3? I will use it for web browsing, multimedia and youtube - probably not much gaming - but a bit. I feel that by buying the 3 (which is slightly thicker and heavier) I won't be benefiting much from the A5X chip and I won't be benefiting at all from the LTE capabilities for probably at least another 2 years. Is the retina display all that its hyped up to be? I've seen one and it looked good but I thought the iPad 2 looked good as well. To be honest I really couldn't tell the difference. Yes, it has a better camera but I won't use that much - I've got a DSLR for that job :P I feel like I should buy the 2 and then sell it for the 4 or 5 in a couple of years time when LTE is up and running in the UK. Does anyone think I'm doing the right thing going for the 2? Cost isn't really and issue - I just don't want to be wasting money.

Thanks

Unless you live in the US or Canada, you will never benefit from the 4G LTE capabilities, as the iPad 3 will not work on UK 4G LTE networks.

The three is worth it for the screen alone if you ask me.

I think now the 2 is cheaper (and I'm sure I've seen it on special for under 300 notes) it's worth considering. This might sound like a silly argument, but I think because the three doesn't do anything drastically different in terms of function, the cheapest way into an iPad is the best value for money. The screen is a luxury, and having an iPad is better than not having one ;)

The 3 has 1gb of ram compared to the 2 which has 512mb and the 1 which has 256mb. If you want to give yourself some future proofing, go for the three.

I've owned all three and went from the 1 to the 2 when program's started closing due to memory constraints. Whilst it probably won't happen just yet with the 2, you don't know how much memory (ram, not flash) new programs will start using in the future.

I havent really experiences any programs closing on my ipad. Maybe too many programs running in the background?

Even IOS will automatically stop programs that are not running after a certain amount of time

ipad 1 with heavy webpages (pcgamer) used to do it all the time on my ipad1. You could alleviate it by running kill app which cleared the memory down but it was a temp fix.

new ipad for sure. screen is amazing. far better compare to ipad 2.

Thanks

I have the 3, the screen is just beautiful and worth the money. If you say your going to be looking at web pages then you can read every letter without zooming in. I believe the iPad 2 had issues when reading a webpage at normal display due to the pixel size you had to zoom in.

Its all subjective though but i recommend if you have the money then go for 3.
