Hi guys,

I am after a screen protector but want something that does not reduce the quality of the screen. Going to be using it mainly for watching movies so maybe get an anti-glare one?

any advice please?

Thanks :)

I've really never understood why people seem to suggest that screen protectors reduce image quality - they don't buy a large enough amount to have a huge impact. I have a Terrapin one on my 4S, no dust under the screen, you really cannot tell that it is there. That said, I do have a knack for gettig my screen protectors fitted perfectly :D

My recommendation, following all that, has to be the Terrapin protectors from a well known auction site. Not cheap feeling, and have a great, glass-like feel to them.

Moshi iVisor is suppose to be one of the best, ordered it myself yesterday so will see just how good it is!

Doesn't need it - has Gorilla glass.

They can and do scratch. If you don't want it to look or feel any different then the cheap, thin ebay glossy screen protectors are near invisible.

My iPhones get mullered if I use them without screen protectors, so they get cheap ones that get changed every few months.

I ended up getting a cheap screen protector for a couple of quid from the rainforest site.

While it worked, I didn't look very good job of installing it as there were bits of dust under the protector. I think actually installing a protector on something the size of an iPad is pretty tricky so if anyone has any top tips on how to do it I'm all ears. :)

Got the iVisor today it is pretty decent, you lose that shiny glass feel to your screen but oh well, is good outdoors as well and stops your iPad being like a mirror! Annoying thing is cleaning every little spec of dust off your screen, so annoying! Despite cleaning off you always get one spec which somehow sneeks back in

18 months of carrying it around in my pocket and mine's perfect.

Over priced sticky back plastic is not the answer.

Yours might be fine but I know mine as well as my wife's and cousins are scratched up

I also think that a screen protector is a necessary addition. I would rather cover my screen with a £3 piece of plastic with slight loss of clarity and responsiveness than to have a expensive screen permanently scratched. At least you can peel a scratched protector off and replace with a new one and have a fresh looking screen again, all for a couple of quid.

On my first iPhone 4 I found that within a month there were scratches across the screen and I am meticulous about my equipment. When I received my replacement iP4 and then my 4S I have always ensured that one has been installed from new. I would dread to know the condition of my screen had a protector not been installed. I think it does affect the resale value too, at the end of the day who wants to buy such an expensive device with a scratched screen?

I also don't think gorilla glass is strong as it claims to be, don't get me wrong it is a very tough material but still definitely vulnerable.

To all those who are using screen protector on an iPad, how have you managed to install then without getting dust under the plastic?

I've no problem installing them on an iPhone as the screen is pretty small, but the iPad screen is so big it seems almost impossible to install the protector without getting dust in there. :(

I use Sellotape or scotch tape to get the stuck dust off, works every time. Patience is required though because usually just as youve removed one speck another one appears. It will get there in the end but as I say it does require a lot of patience and plenty of time, also of course an environment that's as free as dust as possible! I have flawless installs on all of my devices using this method.
