iPad 2: Why?

I have a 64GB iPhone 4S on the way free from work (:D). I however keep passing the iPad 2 in Tesco and keep admiring it for all of its gadgety goodness. One thing I can really get my head around though, what do you folk tend to use them for?

I can imagine myself using it to surf the net whilst watching the TV...thats really about it.

Can anyone inspire me with some ideas to justify the purchase.

As an aside, when are we expecting the next revision, i.e. iPad 3
 
Originally? I got one for lectures. It's great as a note taking device, and I got a bluetooth keyboard from the rainforest for not too much that works with it basically meaning I have complete Office on the go - very useful.

I then setup dropbox and now I do most of my Uni work on it full stop.

Finally, with a couple of apps, it now basically organises my entire life.

I think I received mine a week ago.

Can you recommend a Bluetooth keyboard for the iPad 2 mate?
 
I bought one to play around with, sell it if I didn't like it.

Problem I have now is getting to use it as everyone in the house loves it. Great for taking on holiday too as its very portable. I'd advise getting a 3g one.

that's exactly what it is for and worth every penny just for that.

Also watching films on, or connecting to a tv in hotel and watching films on the tv.

Spend a lot of times stuck in a van doing nothing and in hotels. It's brilliant.
And when I catch a train or plane, it's amazing for that as well.

This.

I bought the iPad a few days ago at tesco. I did the interest free 6 months. The iPad is amazing! It's a lot better and useful then most people think. I bought it primarily for videos, but there's so much more you can do with it. Such as emails, browsing on the Internet, listening to music, chilling out, using the calender, reading things (I'm not a book,reader) but the iPad encourages you to read things which is good for study's.

Also got the 4s coming this week, it deffo is justifiable.

Never watched TV on mine. If you buy one though, get Flipboard. It'll change the way you read the news :)

I bought one for me 22 month old, she play games and watch cbbc on it :)

She know how to turn it on, slide the bar and unlock with a simple 4 digits password. Flip to the games page and open the games.....

Keep her quiet most of the time, worth every penny on the flight back from Malaysia :)
 
I think the most obvious thing to say is that you might not know why you want or should get an iPad, it's when you've got one that you realise how you wouldn't want to be without it.
 
Mine started out as a late night purchase (you all know the kind!) back in July but it's just become so useful!

I use mine a lot at work now for syncing with my calendars, email, tasks etc while I'm out and about and often use remote desktop, teamviewer, file browser and dropbox apps to connect to remote machines and network shares.

It does get used a fair bit at home for web browsing....literally pickup and browse, and iPlayer or TV thats either been copied to the iPad or streamed over the network.

Currently hooked on Words with Friends as an awesome asynchronous multiplayer scrabble like game to play throughout the day or even the week with friends that also have iOS and android devices as well as Facebook. It's nice being able to just take your go whenever you have time

Also as others have said, it's very useful while travelling or on holiday. I have the 3G version and it proved to be very useful with the around me app and google maps.

It really is a totally different experience to using an iPhone

get the 3g one, it has gps if u lose it, tethering to iPhone rapes the battery on the phone, i had a wifi ipad2 for a week before I realised I needed 3g cos the iPhone barely lasted my commute
