Afternoon all,

The other day I popped my iPad2 on to charge on the mains.. nothing happened tried on my MBP, didn't recognise it at all. Tried restarting it/turning it on/off, nothing. Tried few other cables and it's still not doing anything.

Then yesterday I left it plugged in and it gained about 5% - around 1% per hour.

Since my MBP doesn't recognise it when plugged in, I can't restore to factory settings can I? I've booked a "genius" appointment on Friday.

Cheers.

Are you definitely using the charger that came with the ipad?

They have different ampage ratings from the iphone chargers, despite looking the same...

ipads won't charge from computer usb ports, not enough power

Pretty sure, yep; it's the same one that's worked with no problems for 5 months!

I've not had any luck with that - even on MSI "overcharge" enabled boards that are supposed to be able to deliver nearly the equivalent of the ipad charger.

My work PC charged it, although it took 6 hours to do 20%.

My iMac at home will charge it quickly though.
