does the novelty wear off them?

cos a have been offered one as a birthday present but i don't want to use it for a week then get bored of it and sit in the corner as a very expensive paper weight

anyone had that happen to them?

thanks

Most people choose not to get an iPad because it's either not suited for the work they do or they can't justify the price when there is a lot of overlap with other devices they already own. You'd therefore have to be pretty cynical to turn down an iPad offered to you.

Unless there's something else you know you want more to the value of ~£400 for your birthday then why not give it a try? If you don't like it then return it or sell it on.

might grab one when in the US, not really sure how much i'd use it though, everyone i know who's got one raves about it, worth a punt

Bought one two weeks ago....

I've sold my PC, 2 laptops and have bought a Mac. The Windows machines weren't touched at all for a week after the iPad, and not at all now I've got the Mac.

Best thing I've ever bought, the iPad is. It's also a ridiculously addictive gateway drug, so be VERY careful! I blew 40 quid on the App Store within the first day, and haven't put the damn thing down since I got it really. It even comes to work with me, where it gets carted into meetings for note taking and is also used for reading lengthy documents and PDFs.

If you'd said to me just over two weeks ago that I'd be making such a change, from Windows PC & laptop to Mac & iPad, I'd have called you nuts.... now, I'm saying the water's lovely and warm, come on in and enjoy the fruit-themed toys and other cool stuff!

I bought mine because it was shiny, unsure on whether I'd actually use it much.

Thankfully, it's one of those gadgets that you don't realise you need until you own it. It's brilliant and I use mine daily. I use mine mostly for web surfing and watching videos.

Will add to the chorus.

Long-time apple despiser, but finally caved when the Android lot still couldn't get a decent alternative together. I've had it now for over two months and I use it every day, usually for at least an hour or two. The PC in my study now sees me less and less, and I earn brownie points with the wife by being in the sitting room with her during the evenings instead :)

On my iPad 1 now at work... Another day of using it.... That must be everyday since I purchased it all those months ago.

I had a go of the Motorola Xoom yesterday and it just doesn't compare to the Ipad 2.

No Android tablet does at the moment, and it wont for a long time if they go the same way as the phones have. Google have had time to sort things out and the app store is still miles behind :(

I'm always on mine. It doesn't replace the main things I use my laptop or desktop for, I never expected it to.

Some people like to refute the claim of it mainly being a consumption device, but I really do believe that is what it is. I enjoy it for that too, I've had it for just under two months now, and I use it all the time.
