iPad 3 - 3GB 90 Day Micro Sim Quick question

Hi Peeps,

I purchased a Micro 3' 3GB 90 Day' Sim card for my brother in Law's new iPad.

Are they any additional settings to enable in order to get the sim card up and running?

The reason I ask, the sim card has been inserted but he is unable to surf the web. I don't live near him so can't troubleshoot it myself.

From searching the web the sim cards seem to already be activated and it is just a case of popping it in the iPad.

Has anyone got any other ideas what might be wrong?

Are the APN settings correct? If this it the three mobile SIM then it should be 3internet with username and password left blank, then restart the iPad and that might fix the problem

This is the sim card I purchased:Three 3 PAYG Mobile Broadband

Just done a quick check and it seems it could be three.co.uk without username and password or 3internet no username or password

sync the ipad with itunes to update the settings?

I have an ipad2 with 3g sim im sure I had to do that first... once its done the internet is very slow until I put some credit on (as in im forced to 3's web site and its very slow)

He doesn't currently have access to another PC, he only has the iPad.

has he put another sim in the ipad before?

Are the ipad like iphone's in that they get network locked to the first sim that gets put in?

ie, if he's thrown in a voda sim, and activated, then put in a 3 sim, it wont work. (i think...)

I swapped my Ipad2 sim from 3 to some foreign one on holiday, I had to sync with itunes to make it work (i think) so you can switch.. (ipad is not on any contract)

This is the first sim that has been inserted into the iPad.

that's good to know. I've got about 1000 3 1gb for 1 month sims, I've been cutting them to micro and slapped them in each month so the Mrs can watch iplayer while waiting for the kids!
