Ipad 3G help!

Hi guys I have just purchased an ipad 2 which also has 3G
I also have an iPhone 4S. I took the sim out of my iPhone and put it in the ipad but the ipad says invalid sim. Do I need need a certain type sim for the ipad or should this one work?

Nope. I've done this before and it's worked fine. Only issue is if the iPad was locked to a network. Was it originally bought on contract and you got it second hand?

Well according to my friend who entered the details into somewhere he has access to tells us the ipad is unlocked

Also it's believed to have been originally bought unlocked from new

What sim are you trying? If it is saying invalid sim then it is clearly locked to a network.

It's a tesco sim which runs on the O2 network. Is there anyway to find out which network it's on?

Actually I rebooted my ipad and now it's saying no service. Anyone know what might be wrong?
