ipad air linked to previous owner in cloud

Hi I think I know the answer but will ask anyway, nephews girlfriend got an ipad from her work she has the login details and can do everything with it but it is still linked to the companies employees icloud account in find my phone. now the person that set all these up was fired from the company when new owners took over so no way to remove the ipad from his icloud account. The employees were told to keep them as they were going down a different route so any solution other than just keep using it as is, they are worried that this person can get into see there personal files\photos ?

Surely the company should have access to the iCloud account to remove the iPad? Why cant you just log out from the iCloud account and log it back in with another one?

New company and he took it upon himself to set a couple of dozen of these up in his own iCloud, can’t log out surely as it is always linked to him till he deletes it
