Ipad brightness in sunlight

currently using an ipad ir, in sumlight, or a bright environment, sitting under a sunshade/umbrella
Screen set to full brightness, v v hard to see, have to enlarge everything in order to gain enough contrast to read.

How much brighter is the current ioad air? Or ipad models compared to the ioad air?

I have a 10.5 Pro and it goes bright enough to use outside in the sun. It drains the battery pretty quick though...
