I use the Gmail app for my mail rather than the built in Mail app.
Is there anyway of convincing the iPad to use this when I click on email links on webpages etc?

Thanks.
Andrew

Out of interest, what does the app give you that the in-built mail doesn't?

I usually recommend to others that they configure Gmail as an Exchange account as that gives you full push support.

I did originally use the Mail app then tried the Gmail one and just found I preferred it.
It also seems more reliable at keeping multiple folders updated correctly.

the gmail app is awful just use mail

It's been updated relatively recently (January if I recall correctly) and it's actually quite good now.

Yeah, without jail breaking you're going to be stuck with default mail app. Not even sure if changing that behaviour is possible even if you do JB!

I'm in the same situation as you. Would much prefer to use the Google app but find my self using the default client when writing and replying to emails but any management (labels, staring etc) I fire up the Google app.

The inbuilt client does not handle labels or stars, and I use theses extensively, so the Gmail app is the only real option...
