iPad finding nas

Hi all

I'm trying to stream music from my iPad to chromecast audio I can do this using a cast app
My iPad can find my nas and show the pictures I have stored on it ,but when it comes to it the music on it it says no file to play ?
I'm guessing it's a sharing thing but I'm clueless with networking ,any ideas please
It's a ready nas duo

Smb ? Please talk to me like I am complete fool , I set the Nas up 4 years ago and have now forgot how I did it lol

The Nas is hooked up to a mede8ter in the cinema room , the Panasonic ax 902 can find it and play files in another part of the house , but now I'm trying to " cast" music from my Nas using a iPad to chromecast audio in another part of the house

normally you need a service on the NAS for a device to connect to. For mine (not apple) It's a UPNP service (or logitech squeezebox)

what does the smb server music files support? have you done a music scan?

Erm , no , I can play music from the Nas using the mede8ter ( cinema room ) Panasonic TV ( main living area )

I'm casting music now from my iPad in the music room , but only what's on iTunes , I would like to access my Nas
I know apple cant do flac , but most of my music is MP3 I think
