iPad Mini 4g?

can anyone tell me if the iPad mini cellular is 3G only or 4G compatible?

Yes it is compatible with 4g on the EE network.

You may have to wait for the new versions of the ipads to have newer 4g support with other networks.

Best to check yourself with the service provider you intend to go with about compatibility.

i have a contract with three. they state that they will be introducing 4G to their existing customers for free. will my iPad mini work then?

It should be with Three as they intend on using the same 1800Mhz frequency EE also use. It won't be compatible with the 800 Mhz frequency they also have though, so may have limited coverage.
