iPad mini bricked?

My missus has an ipad mini. Its been working fine, then while it was charging, the ipad and the charger got very hot and the ipad powered off.

It won't power back on, and doing the hard reset (button on top + button on front for 45s) doesnt do anything.

Have tried different chargers as well.

Is it bricked? Are there any other things I can try?

Its a few months out of warranty, so Apple have basically offered a refurbed unit or a brand new one depending on the depth of our wallet.

If it was bricked then it should at least start up but go no further then the apple logo, and if attempting to put it into DFU mode doesn't do anything then it's more a hardware failure then it being bricked.

Another thing you need to look at is the charger, because if you was using some cheap charger then it might have been a factor in what happened since most of those cheap chargers aren't manufactured to the same standards as the official chargers.

No logo, no change in backlight (ie. its dead.. dodo dead).

This was with the official ipad charger, and I've used my Anker one as well. I think we may end up declaring it a write off and looking for a replacement.

Thanks anyhow Demonix.
