I want to get an ipad mini but am I wasting my money now, or should i hold out for when ios7 etc are out, maybe they bring new ipad out too?

I need it by September really.

there will almost certainly be a new ipad mini later this year, but when and how much better who knows

I believe that all of the iOS 7 functions will be present on the current iPad Mini.

I have to say that the current is very good, and about 40% brightness gets me up to 13hours. I don't expect the new version to improve too much, and I wouldn't expect a retina display.

Had mine for a few months now and love it to bits, use mine for satnav and mail/web on the go and it's spot on. That said the nav does knock lumps out the battery life.

Imagine there will be a spec bumped version this year at some point but maybe worth picking up a refurb mini then sell if you feel you want the new one when it arrives being apple it will hold its value pretty well

I think with apple products, if you want one now, just get one. The right time to buy is when you want it. I don't see the point waiting a whole year for a new one and then when that comes out you could say, 'oh lets just wait until iOS8'.

Do it, do it now. :D

Yeah, I was pretty sure they'd do Retina this year, but that's starting to look less likely. More likely a new processor and a better battery this year, followed by Retina next year. Although, it's possible they might produce Retina minis this year, but at a premium and sell them alongside non-retinas.
