iPad Mini Retina - Now available!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't think intentionally not disclosing the fact that the specifications differ is misleading?

The advert on the apple site is a joke:

"Feature for feature, it’s identical to iPad Air in every way. Except for its super-portable, hold-it-in-one-hand, still-just-right mini size"

No, it isn't identical if the screen has the colour reproduction of last years mini.

Why not take it up with the ASA then?

Love it. You're effectively saying that someone can't possibly be annoyed at a lack of disclosure so a company can pass off an inferior product as something it isn't, unless they take it up with the standards agency.

Life isn't that black and white. I can complain about it and warn others. You cannot tell me to not talk about it unless I pursue it to the end of the world and back. Which is essentially what you've implied in that one ridiculous sentence.

Your complaint appears to be Apple advertising the mini as identical to the air, only smaller, whilst failing to claim that the screen is different. The absolute only way to get that changed (if at all) is the complain to the ASA that you think the advertising is misleading. Consumers can already see the differences themselves when they compare the 2 devices in the shop. And if they don't compare and buy one or the other, they'll never know there was a difference anyway, so it's rather redundant.

Just compared the mini retina to my air the blue is a lot lighter on the mini retina, hmm should be the same really, my wife is not bothered though

The colours are definitely more saturated on the Air. I've got both, but I'm keeping the mini as the size and weight is far more convenient for me.

My wife likes the mini's size, air all the way for me. Still miffed at the screens differences though.
I am with the member who is complaining because it is essentially false advertising but you can always return it though.
Unless you have an air side by side you may not notice

Got an email today saying it was being delivered to "the shop" tomorrow and they'll email me again when I can collect it :)

I'm trying to ignore all the negativity about the screen not being as good as the Air, from experience of when I went from a 4 to mini the weight and size were a bigger advantage to me than retina. On the other hand I do worry this may be another iPad 3 and in a few months we'll see a Mini retina with improved Samsung screens and a fingerprint sensor making the current mini retina a bit of a dog when it comes to upgrading and selling on.

Mini is - out for delivery.

mine too!

Just to add - with regards to screen colour, gamut etc my sister has an Air and my brother picked up a Mini from the Arndale Store, for me the colour was just a little bit more emphasised on the Air in comparison however I couldn't really tell much of a difference between them when using the device. To me they both looked great and all the folk I know who've picked one up think the screen is outstanding but they're just normal everyday users.

The whole screen gate is being overblown in this thread. Comparing a 5S/rMini, rMBP & U2711 they all vary in colour reproduction. And even so the screen on the mini still looks fantastic.

Mine has arrived, ordered from Apple Store on release day. Screen looks fine to me at first glance, certainly miles better than the Ipad2 its replacing.

Yea i am not that worried about the screen, its the kind of thing you only notice really if you have two devices side by side comparing. Anandtech will come out with a comprehensive review and will be able to tell us exactly where the difference is.

I've got the old iPad mini. Bought it months back.

Does anyone here have one now? I wonder how the screen/retina display compares to the old. I admit the difference between my iPhone 3G and 4s is impressive but will it be the same on the iPad?

Surely if your watching a 720p video then your already maxed out in terms of resolution. So there wouldn't be any difference?

Same resolution as the larger Air but due to smaller screen has a higher PPI.
