iPad mini - wifi switched off when sleeping

Is there any way to stop this from happening as it is stopping me receiving iMessages and FaceTime calls?

This happened to me on my iPad. Was advises by apple to do a full restore from iTunes. Worked a treat
Don't forget to do a back up first.

Does anyone else suffer from this issue? I am on iOS 6.0.2

It's really bugging me. I can see that whenever I open my cover that Wifi is off, then it reconnects.
