Just had a carrier update notification on my iPad with a Three SIM. After a reboot I noticed the Personal Hotspot function has appeared in Settings!

I have one of the pre-paid SIM cards and, from what I can tell, tethering isn't allowed on these, but it's there anyway. Could prove handy and just a heads up in case anyone else needs this feature - it appears at least Three have sorted it out for the iPad3.

I've had it for a while on those 3gig cards. I assumed it wasn't going to work but it does :)

I'm going to give it a try at work with my Xbox to see if I can get on live at work as I get 12 meg down 2 up at work with a ping as good as home!

Well even if it's technically not permitted, I doubt they really care as you have a fixed amount of data to use - doesn't really matter how you use it.

The update appeared on mine a month or so ago and it works fine. I use a Three PAYG SIM in mine (£15/month for all you can eat data).

You will be surprised, o2 wanted £5 a month more on my contract for the luxury! its free on an android phone.

It's available on android phones but if you want to comply with the T&C's of an O2 contract they will still want you to cough up the £5 bolt-on for tethered data, over just regular data. The £5 also includes 500MB per month (so since I already had 500MB of regular data on my existing contract, I get 1GB total tethered or not).
