My 1st gen iPad Pro has recently been misbehaving and I've picked up a 4th generation one as a replacement. This new one has a USB-C port and comes with what is apparently Apple's 20W USB-C Power Adapter.

I travel a lot with work and therefore have a spare charger that lives in my case to charge various devices, this one: https://www.mymemory.co.uk/ventev-10-2a-6-port-usb-charging-hub-rq600.html

Using a standard USB-C cable plugged into the fast-charge port on that Ventev USB block, the iPad charges spectacularly slowly.

Is it the case that the Ventev USB charger simply isn't putting out enough power compared to the Apple one or could it be that the cable I'm using is making a diffference?

Thanks in advance.

Quick charge is a proprietary charging standard used by devices with Qualcomm chips (that’s my understanding).

The iPad supports the USB-PD (power delivery) standard. You will need a charger that supports this standard assuming the one you have doesn’t.

That’s why rightly or wrongly I stick to the Apple cables and chargers. Sure they cost a few pound more but they usually work without hassle. I have the Anker multi charger hub which tends to work ok for me on IPad, IPhone and other USB C stuff.

Yes, agreed. I have that 6-port thing simply so that I can charge the many devices I have to take away with me. It's easy to just pack one charger with a load of USB cables hanging out of it.

What is the Anker one you have?
