Having seen the official Apple cost for replacing the screen on these. Is there anybody that can do it for a reasonable price?

Literally did the same. Couldn't see an argument against claiming on the accidental damage part of the house insurance.

Claim put in. The insurance company said it was BER so I've just been offered a £749 voucher from a retailer.
