IPAD problem

Hi guys, my little lad (6 years old) came to me last night and said "why won't my ipad turn on or off"... So looking at it, it seems the power button has stopped working, not sure if he or his sister (5 years old) have dropped it or it's a application problem but I can't get it to turn on or off.
I have tried holding the home and sleep button together for 30 seconds but no luck. It's obviously still usable and when dead will turn on automatically when enough charge, but does anyone have any ideas on this. I don't want to open the Ipad, I fixed one once and would never touch them again in that way.

So the button is fully functioning in terms of being able to click it and so kn? Not stuck in or anything?

I don't think you have much choice but to take it apart or take to Apple.

Could try restoring to see if it's software related but highly doubtful.

The button functions fine mate, yeah was considering restoring it to see if this works.

I think restore is your only option unless they have somehow broken the internal mechanism.
