iPad Questions

Hi,

I have a couple of questions which I would like some help with.

1. I have the 3G version of the iPad and was wondering if the GPS is active if I do NOT have a internet/sim card installed?

I am planning on on using this as I travel a little bit and wanted to know if the GPS will work without the sim card.

If it doesn't, is there a way toget it working?

A friend mentioned buying a 'pay as you go' sim just to get it active, but I dont want to do that unless I now it will work.

2. Can I stream movies that I have downloaded to the iPad on to my TV? I though that there were two possible ways of doing this - trough my PS3 or through the apple TV box (which I do NOT own).

Are either of these ways possible or is there a simpler method?

1) I don't see how it would work without a sim card

2) You need the apple tv for airplay .

You can stream things from your PC to the TV without a apple tv but you need a TV which can support it or a box like the WDTV live etc etc

I wanted to stream from the iPad. Can I do that to the PS3 or can that only be done to the apple TV?

The GPS chip should work without the SIM card in but you won't be able to get any data - I think.

For your second point you need an Apple TV.

Is the quality any good when streaming from the iPad?

Also..... I am using some of the apps.... like cine(somethin) and VLC.

Will I be able to stream through apple tv when using those apps? or does it only work on Apple bought film's?

Wondering if anyone knew the answer to the above question.

Will films running on VLC or Cinexplayer work through AppleTV or will it only play movies downloaded through Itunes?
