Morning,
My son has an ipad 3rd gen 32GB, he recently dropped it and although it was in a protective case the sound had stopped working, Siri works fine and the voice comes through clear. The sound works when a a speaker or headphones are plugged into the 3.5 jack. When I try to use the volume keys on the side nothing shows on screen. I have done a reset, reboot and made sure the side buttons are not set to something different. It's out of warranty by about 2 months so Apple won't be able to fix. On very odd occasions the sound will come back on for a few seconds clearly then goes away again.
Is there anything that can be done? I'm relativly savvy with building pc's and wondered if it's as simple as taking the back off and flicking a switch or shorting a pin?
Any help from any apple people would be great as he is devastated about breaking it.
Josh
