iPad warranty

Hey folks question regarding the warranty on a new iPad.

I know its 1 year from date of purchase but what about when it's a gift?

By a gift I mean won in a competition, no purchase was made so would the warranty go from the date of registration?

It would most likely go from the date the iPad was registered/bought by the company providing the prize, sadly it's unlikely it'll run from the wen you registered it. Have you typed it into the warranty checker?

No the iPad hasn't been registered yet, it's still wrapped in its cellophane wrapper.

Just checked via the link above using the serial number printed on the box and it said unable to verify purchase date click continue to register.

Likely because the serial wasn't registered at point of sale, given that it was provided for free. So will probably now register from when you register.
