Hi all,

I'm looking to find a solution to a problem, I have ipads dotted around our different work sites for signing in etc which need to remain powered 24/7.

also they need to be connected via ethernet as wifi is not available/reliable enough.

Does anyone know of an adapter or peice of kit that can power the ipad whilst allowing its USB host or ethernet connection?

Cheers
James

I think someone's stringing you along. There isn't a standard Apple Ethernet adaptor for iPads, it's the camera connector with a USB Ethernet adapter plugged into it. There are no PoE components inside the Apple USB Ethernet adapter.

Yeah I thought that, I have purchased some special usb host lightening cables with passthrough so this should theoretically be able to charge the ipad whilst allowing the usb ethernet adapter to function?

I'll see if I can get any clarity on how they're doing it... it was only from a passing conversation so I may have remembered it incorrectly.

However, I am certain they are pulling both power and data through the one cable as wifi is not supported in the environment / usage scenario.

Hi,

I have not been able to find anything that will do this, did you have any joy?

Many Thanks
James
