Ipad2 showing no storage left, but nothing's on it?

I'm trying to fix an issue with a friends iPad where it says all 16gb are full, but he only has 6 songs and a handful of apps on it. I'm an apple noob so not being much help. The usage screen in the settings menu only shows a few apps using 30mb or so each, so no obvious leaks. Any ideas on what I should be looking for?

Connect it to iTunes and see what the usage is. I have had this on my iPhone before and the issue was to do with memory being used up in the "Other" section.

The solution was to simply sync with iTunes and it free'd up the rest of the storage, sometimes a backup then restore is required but there is plenty of info out there, hopefully this is the issue as it's easy to sort
