IPAD3 on 3g how fast.?

Looking to buy an IPAD today.

Just need to make sure the new IPAD3 + 4G works fine on currnet UK 3G SIMS.?

It supports HSPDA+ so you can get better than 3G speeds (but not LTE type speeds, obviously) if your carrier has an HSPDA+ network. I know 3 does.
