Hi there

Previously I've used IPCOP with URL Filter and Advanced Proxy on an old P4 machine as a proxy server/web filter. I've found a rack mounted Dell dual core server with 4gb down the back of the sofa (ok, at the back of the server room) which would make a much better proxy server.

Which free, Linux based, easy to install and configure proxy server do you recommend? I've tried the ones in the title but are there any others I should know about before making my decision?

Why do it myself when there are perfectly good distros out there with it already done? (and done far better than I ever could!)

Have you tried smoothwall? I've got that setup with the url filter and proxy and it works really well on an old p3 with 512mb ram
