I have an Iphone 12 and a 7. If I plug the 7 in via the USB-C output on my computer (Windows 10, motherboard internal USB-C connector to case USB-C, USB-C to Lightning. original Apple cable that came with the 12) it shows in iTunes no problem.

If I plug the 12 in via the same USB-C cable, it doesn't show in iTunes.

If I plug the 12 in via a standard USB-A to lightning it shows in iTunes no problem.

Why won't the 12 work via the USB-C to Lightning cable? Any ideas? It charges and aks if I trust the computer and I say trust.

Some of the aftermarket cables only charge and are not data cables

Edit: just noticed you said it was an original Apple cable, I don't know if the apple USB-C cables are data & charging or not

Same PC, iTunes, cable and iphone 11 pro works fine.

So that's a 7, 11-pro both working, 12 not working. Could the 12 be refusing the connection somehow?

I'm new to the whole iphone thing and still finding my way with things, but I installed itunes on win10, connected the supplied cable to usb-c on pc and it detects my iphone 12 fine.

Maybe the 12 just doesn't like the cable? I've never plugged mine in, but this looks like it is refusing the data connection to me (I assume it is charging?)

I have had similar issues, albeit with keyboards not phones.
