Hi all

He a strange situation with my iPhone this evening. Started around 18:00 when I received a message on my watch but not my iPhone.

I nailed it down to iCloud not syncing on the iPhone - messages, notes, passwords etc. Couldn’t force it to sync either, the entire phone would freeze.

Tried resetting network settings, signing out of iCloud, then all settings. At this stage, the phone was deteriorating by the minute. I then tried to call apple support, but the phone wouldn’t make a call.

Tried turning off WiFi calling and back on, then the phone went into a boot loop, in which it has remained.

Any ideas? Stumped on this.

I’ve had no luck with the 15. I’m on my 4th one I think. All had issues.

Ended up needing to do a full factory reset on this via recovery on my MacBook.

I since learned that my phone hadn't backed up anything for over a week, so I've lost a few messages.

Weirdly, the message that was missing before is still missing, but visible on my watch.

Still having issues this morning. Doing another factory reset and won’t restore from a backup this time.

Some of the problems I’m still having:

Notes out of sync
Some messages not showing (but do on other devices)
Can’t send WhatsApp messages, but can receive them.

Factory reset and not to restore from backup is what Apple always recommends.

Still doesn't work then fault with the phone.

It is but it’s a pain to set everything up again, inc watch as well.

I have now done it but it still hasn’t resolved some of the issues.

Okay I think I resolved everything.

Something was causing havoc with my
iCloud.

I had to overwrite my previous backup, and remove my WhatsApp backup. To keep the chats, I transferred them to an android device, then wiped the iPhone, set up the iPhone by using “move to iOS” on the android, backed up the new WhatsApp and then restored from the backup after another reset.

Everything seems to be working now.

Back to the drawing board.

Still got some freaky behaviour with messages and search functions.

E.g. in the Settings app, search for “Calendar” and no results found. App is there if I manually navigate to it.

Called Apple, they reckon a software issue. Not personally buying it as I had the issue present itself as of one evening. No problems at all before then

Well the phone still hasn’t been happy since the full factory reset. Search still hasn’t worked, lots of app crashes and tonight it borked itself so hard it went straight into restore mode after restarting.

Must be a hardware issue of some kind.

Time for an Apple Store visit !

Couldn't get in today in Brighton

Spoke to one adviser on the phone "sorry you have to take it to a store"

Went round in circles with them, asked for an express replacement (I've got AC+), they said no.

Ended the call to chill out a little, called back, different adviser "okay I'll set up an express replacement for you now" wtf :p
