Seems like a reasonable time to discuss what is possibly coming up in September. It appears to be a much more interesting year for Apple with the iPhone. The fold in particular has me somewhat excited.

Are you planning on upgrading or sticking to what you have now?

I upgrade every year, the fold looks interesting but losing Face ID would be annoying, would need to see what iOS features the fold has over a normal iPhone though.

The fold could potentially be a fantastic eReader. I don't mind FaceID. I've used a fingerprint scanner on other devices and after a day or so you get used to it.

The way it is going, I will probably end up with the regular 18 instead of the Pro this time round. I don't use the Ultra Wide that often anyway. That is as if everything else like CPU/RAM being equal.

Haven’t seen if it’s changing, but it’s the telephoto you lose rather than ultra wide.

I like the ultra wide but the telephoto is more useful to me.

Will likely skip unless something groundbreaking comes out. No pun intended wrt to the 'fold', which I don't really think I'd have any interest in.

I recall after the 17 release that the rumours were only the 18 “Pro” and upwards (be it fold/ultra whatever the naming will be) would be released and the regular 18 won’t be until Spring 2027.

Either end is fine, I like 90% of pics with the main camera. Actually I find the telephoto to be worse, it's lesser quality than the main and not big enough zoom on the 14Pro, it think it's only like eqv of like 75mm. None of them are what I am used to, main is too wide, tele isn't long enough.

Yeah all rumours point to the regular 18 coming next year.

I did that this time round and happy with my choice for the most part.
The only thing I occasionally miss is the Raw photo capture but I can live with that.
Admittedly I said this last year but I don’t intend to change until they do something with the Dynamic Island. It’s not entirely egregious but it’s been around long enough now and I’m sure there are advancements to be made.

Tele is much longer on the newer pros

I think I shot RAW once on my 14Pro, I basically use the camera for quick photos for the forum or use it to "tag" a geo location that I've been to. So I would take like 100 photos on my Fuji/Sony then I would snap about 3 on my iPhone.

Or use it to take photos on day/nights out.

It's functional, not aspirational.

So RAW photos for those occasions just takes up too much space.
