iPhone 18 / Pro / Pro Max / Fold

I've been on the 14 Pro for a number of years now. Once the AUP was launched in the UK I was upgrading pretty much every year, until the 14. I realised all I really do is use whatsapp, reddit and instagram occasionally. My main regret is going from a 13 Pro Max to a 14 Pro as I thought I'd be fine going down in size but the change in battery life was really noticeable. Was thinking I'd change to a Max phone again this September.

The Fold seems like an interesting prospect as I love the Samsung folding phones, in principle, but at £1800, that's a bit rich for my blood. Unless it offers a lot and can make me trade in my iPad Pro 12.9" and phone I'm not sure I'd bite

The folding phone design is interesting but i'll certainly be waiting for a couple of generations of 1 before investing. I can imagine there being some teething issues with it just like the Samsung folds had at the beginning.

Although I am more interested to see if they continue with the iPhone Air range if anything

Might upgrade my 13P. I’ve always liked the fold concept but still not sold on paying £2k for a plastic screen with a crease.

Will probably get more AI lies but glad I didn’t fall for the 16 or 17.

The newer iPhones have seen quite a big leap in battery life, to the point where you’d probably see a 17 Pro last as long as a 14 Max - so if the screen size is working for you, that could be an option

My 15PM seems to be giving me some sort of RSI from stretching across the screen one-handed with my girly little hands.

So my next phone will likely be the Pro rather than Pro Max.

Not sure if I’ll bother with the 18 as the 15 is still going strong. The fold doesn’t interest me much.

The main reason I upgrade is to remove that lightning port out of my eco system once and for all. Then I don’t need to travel with a dedicated cable just for the phone.

Could probably save money and go for 17Pro when 18Pro comes out. None of the AI stuff interest me anyway.

For me I'm tempted to go from my 12PM to the Air 2. It's the perfect size for me and I don't want the extra features of the Pro as I have a camera, won't game on it, make content, etc.

Food for thought, for sure. My main reason at the time was when cycling the Pro Max felt massive on my back. Since I got an Watch Ultra 2 I don't tend to take my phone with me so I wouldn't be against going to the Max again.

Probably wrong section of the forum but I'd be keen to know how people with Android folding phones get on. I only use my iPad for media consumption, really. Which the 12.9" screen is fantastic for but it's not like I use it for productivity. If I could get by watching media on the folding phone, it would kill two birds with one stone.

Kind of crazy. I can remember watching films on my friends Creative Zen Vision when we used to park up in cars and that had like a 2.5" screen and here i am wondering if I could get by with a modern mobile phone screen

Im still on the 14PM. Dont see the point of the Fold. I have an iPad mini and I dont really want one device doing both tasks, I dont think the battery would cope anyway so it's not really on my radar. I think an 18PM might be the way to go as I dont want the smaller screen of the normal 18. If they do continue with the Air it might get interesting if they can up the specs in terms of battery and camera but thats maybe unrealistic. Ideally a standard 18 with PM size would be what I would be after but its not happening.

I had two Samsung Folds. Both had issues with lines appearing on the folding screen just after a year. This is why I switched to Apple. I was unlucky perhaps lol

I think weight is the biggest factor for me this time around. 15 pro max is much more pleasant to use than my 14 pro max. If the battery is good, I may just go with a standard 18.

They need to get rid of the stupid bumps for the cameras. If they made the phones flat.. heavens forbid, they would have extra space for a larger battery, rather than expect people to buy MagSafe battery packs.

Heck if they had that much space… just hear me out on this wild idea.. have a removable battery.

I’m currently in the market for a iPhone 16 pro.. my iPhone 12 mini is feeling dated right now.

The only way to do that is to have worse cameras or double the phones weight, so neither are viable. A lot of the Chinese phones are using new battery tech that gives you more life for similar weight but I'd be surprised if Apple adopted that early.
