iPhone 1G Version 2 Firmware downgrade/unlock

Hey, I'm completely new to this so words of 1 syllable. I installed firmware version 2, but now I don't want it on my old iPhone. Can I downgrade to unlock it? I don't care about upgrading again afterwards. Can someone point me in the right direction? I've seen that pwnage thing, but the hackint0sh forums are full of really leet people who scare me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the link to official iphone 1.1.4 firmware.

Download it and then go to into your iphone. Hold shift whilst clicking on restore and it will ask you to select the firmware to use. Choose your downloaded 1.1.4 and then ok.

You can then use Ziphone to jailbreak and unlock it.

Mine will not restore to 1.1.4. Always reports back about an unknown error

you can't downgrade to 1.1.4 with iTunes 7.7 u have to use 7.6 or 7.5 I think

Not done it myself but thats what I've read

Yup 7.5 only, 7.6 doesn't work either.

Hi sorry for the hijack but I also have a 2.0 iphone 2G now and I want to downgrade it to 1.1.4 and unlock it. How do I downgrade the firmware to 1.1.4 if my itunes is 7.6?
