Iphone 2.2 jailbreak

I have a 2G Iphone thats jailbroken using Ziphone with 1.1.4 on it. I'd like to upgrade the firmware to 2.2 but i'm not quite sure how to go about it given its current state.

Can I just use Pwnage Tool? Will I be able to keep everything thats on the phone atm after the upgrade?

restore the iphone via itunes, update to 2.2, then use quickpwn?

Will be backed up in iTunes when you sync.
