Hi all,

I've had my 2g iPhone for a couple of years now, and now that my GF has got herself a 3G, I've noticed now that the volume of the speaker on the bottom of my 2g is very quiet in comparison! It's now difficult to hear any music, and the ringtones/message tones are very quiet, too, and it makes the handsfree bit useless! ;)

I'm guessing that 2 years of it being sat in my pocket has meant it's got itself full of pocket fluff... so, what's the best and safest way to clean it out, to hopefully restore a bit of volume again :)

I'm sure it's quieter than it was when I first got it. I used to be able to place it on the dash in the car on handsfree and hear it, now I can't (even in a car that's quieter!)

My 2g suffers the same problem - the speaker has become quieter and the vibration has become louder. :(

There are loads of youtube vid's on how to increase the volume. It involves a pin and putting it in the speaker holes. I have done mine and the increase is frightening. Seemingly there is a 'cloth' strip under the case to stop dust getting in but this restricts the volume.
