Hi

Quick question , I'm just about to get a iphone on pay as you go anf I still can't decide if the GS is worth the extra £100.

In real life have any one ungraded and noticed much of a difference in speed extra?????

Yes. Unquestionably worth £100 more. The dillema you see people with here is whether to buy out of contracts etc. to get one. For a new user it's a no-brainer.

Much much quicker - In real terms starting apps/stability of apps/closing apps going from different menus to menus it's more than 2X as fast for me Apple haven't done themselves justice in the advertising. But I guess upto 2X as fast maybe in terms of in-game? - Don't forget also you'll be getting video, 3mp camera and extra 8gb.

It's obv faster! It saves ya time and intensive websites like ign load up a lot quicker than the old one, def worth the xtra in my opinion.

Yeah, the 3G is good of course, but one of it's major annoyances with me was the time it took some web pages to load. 3gs IMO is finally a suitable netbook replacement.
the compass is useful too if you use google maps when walking about new places, as it rotates the map screen automaticslly
apps/games load/run faster
worth it

Would you like to elaborate on that a bit?

I am on Orange HTC TOUCH HD which I am about to get rid of and thought about an apple phone what would be the best deal? Contract, non contract? I would had thought you need a contract just for he data package to get the best out of the phone I know you do with the touch hd?

'Playing with' and 'using' are somewhat different. I think the new version is definitely worth the extra outlay. I used a colleagues 3G today having had the 3GS since launch and I was amazed at how much slower the 3G is in comparison. When going from the new one to the old one it's significantly noticeably different.

It's noticeable instantly everywhere for me. The 3G is like a slideshow even on the unlock screen the animation.

It's like comparing a 335i to an M3.

The 3G is hardly slow but the 3GS makes it look slow relatively.

Certianly wouldn't buy out a 3G contract for the sake of getting the 3GS, but as mentioned, for a new buyer it is indeed a no-brainer!

Is it really that much faster? I have been very impressed with my 3G. I'm not in contract with mine so changing wouldn't be a big problem and the idea of more memory sounds pleasing to me.

It's like top end of a old generation cpu vs the top end of the current, it's soo much quicker apple should be making a much bigger deal of that fact.

the 3gs only loads up pages a couple of seconds faster than the 3g and certain apps just slightly faster i dont think its worth the extra 100 pounds all these comments saying its so much faster is just incorrect

Let me guess you own a 3G? I'm just stating facts rather than opinion :) couple of seconds? No a lot lot quicker opens apps in half the time.
