Hi all,

I have recently upgraded my phone from a Nokia N95 standard to a iPhone 3G 16GB.

I am with o2. My contract on my N95 was 600 minutes, 1000 texts and unlimited texts all weekend and this only cost me £35 over 18 months.

With the iPhone I have 500 texts and 600 minutes but have added an unlimited text bolt on for £7.50. Therefore the iPhone is £42.50 over 18 months. I also get the unlimited data which will allow me to always be on the net.

I had the choice of paying £155 for the iPhone new or £99 for a reconditioned handset so I went for the £99 option.

I have read a new of reviews about the iPhone and they have mainly been good with the odd exception.

What are your thoughts on the iPhone (good and bad) and the contract that I now have?

Thanks :)

What are your thoughts on the iPhone (good and bad)
Covered, many many many many times.. do a search ;)

It works out cheaper if you buy the handset outright (PAYG) and get an unlimited SIM, but then you have to jailbreak it.

That said, if you want to go legit there's a thread on here, and the MoneySavingExpert forums that shows going with the £45 a month contract, then switching to the £35 after 9 months means you only pay £99 for the phone and you end up saving about £10 across the length of the contract.

A guy at my work got a reconditioned iPhone for free with his contract (annual upgrade, I think his was circa £45p/m).

The phone was brand new, still had all protective covers intact etc. Only thing missing was the Apple box which I got with mine. He was under the impression the recon units are ones that have been returned to O2 because they didn't like the phone?

Anyway he didn't want it anyway and kept his old phone (tried to convince him being a Apple guy but still), sold on eBay for £385 so you could always do the same depending on how you feel when you get it. :)

EDIT: On a personal note, I upgraded from an O2 XDA Oribt 2 and absolutely love the phone. Mainly because I can sync it to my Mac without buying silly 3rd party software.
