Iphone 3G delete emails from google mail server

I have googlemail setup on iphone, when theres a new email arrive, it delete the mails from the google mail server so i cant browse it on my computer after looking at them on my iphone. Delete from server is selected "never" on default setting.

any ideas?

Have you set the 'Advanced' settings correctly?

I believe that you have to set up your mail account manually using 'Other', rather than using the Gmail preset, else you can't access the Advanced settings.

Then, you should choose the 'All Mail' folder on the gmail IMAP server as your Deleted items folder. (Additionally, you can use the server folders for Drafts and Sent). Then, when you 'delete' a message on the iPhone, it archives the message in Gmail, rather than truly deleting it.


Observe:

In Settings -->Mail, Contacts, Calendars --> Your Email Accounts --> Advanced

Click on Deleted Mailbox, and selecte All Mail:

i didnt setup anything it synced my outlook gmail account. but i'll try do it manually using Gmail preset.

make sure its imap you are using

if you go to your gmail account go to settings (turn on imap) then read the iphone configuration instructions ( link on same page ) and set it up manually - if you let the iphone do it in its own magical way... it does it gaylee
