iPhone 3g help please

Got one of these for crimbo on o2 payandgo, and im having trouble using 3G/GPRS/EDGE etc

Whenever i try and connect to one of these im getting a "could not activate cellular data network" message, i changed the network setting to payandgo.o2.co.uk. The phone came with a £10 'favourite place' sim card with 1 years free web + o2 wifi access. Ive read that it takes up to two days to activate, i take it this is the reason why? Also i can't ring in or out
 
If you can then ring the top up line and see if it mentions having the web+wifi bolt-on active.

It'll probably start working in x hours. Annoying though - the admin hassle was immense when I got mine at launch and elected to transfer my old number on to it.

This is all you need to do.... sounds like you are already there.

Using iPhone with an O2 Pay & Go SIM card
Your iPhone is automatically set to Pay Monthly, so you'll need to change the settings to Pay & Go to get the things like mobile internet to work. Here's how:

Go to settings menu, choose General
Choose Network, then Cellular Data Network
In the APN box, change mobile.o2.co.uk to payandgo.o2.co.uk - you don't need to change you user name and password
When finished, press the home button and you're done

Yeh, Ive said I had tried that, still nothing. It's probably due to my card not being activated yet

I bought the phone for my partners xmas, setting it up today for the web and it wouldnt connect.

Following this sorted it out :)

ahhhhhh this is getting annoying, tried activating my card again but says its already been activated, still cant ring in or out, nor can i access 3g/edge
 
Can you ring the top up line (4444)? Just remembered in the other thread that you need to top up once before 3G data access starts working.

I manually topped up from o2 website now 3g works, i was under the impression when i bought the phone from carphonewarehouse it came with £10 airtime, maybe the credit hasnt been credited yet? but im not getting charged for 3g usage, so something has worked ..

I bought one from the carphonewarehouse for my partner, it had the airtime along with data included the moment i activated it on boxingday.

You should get the following...
* £10 top up
* 500 free minutes*

* £15 top up
* 1000 free minutes*

* £30 top up
* Unlimited minutes*

They all come with unlimited data, obviously they have terms and conditions for that.
