I've just ordered my iphone from CPW but dont fancy paying the £12/month for their insurance policy. Does anyone know of any good independant ones ?

Package accounts are always a rip off and very rarely make sense.

Home contents insurance covers mine :)

but the problem is, the insurance will give you the lump sum to 'buy' the phone again outright......will PAYT iphones work fully with contract?

Interesting, I was going to ask the same.

The contents insurance will cover me for an addition £30 per year which seems reasonable although the excess is £150. Based on this, the 02 insurance at £6 per month seems far more attractive. Are there any other options?

When I bought my iphone v1 the 02 guy said to me 'do you want insurance? some insurers won't cover it as it's such an expensive phone'

err no thanks mate, I'll just phone Endsleigh and tell them to cover it instead of my N95. which I did. It costs around £45 on my student insurance.

I stopped paying for phone insurance a few years ago, as I found when I actually needed to make a claim, due to the phone dying of its own accord, they were less than helpful and I pretty much ended up having to pay for a brand new phone.

Also, it seems like they have just skyrocketed the insurance. My first contract in 2000 was £2 insurance, then it was £4, then £6 when I last had it last. The next contact I took out they were wanting £8, due to it being an 'expensive phone' (though my last one was supposed to be expensive, and was actually more expensive than my new one you replaced it with!). Now they are wanting £12 to cover an iPhone! The cheek.
